Support a Fantastic Non-Profit:

LCCB is a proud to support the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation at James River. It was founded with one purpose in mind- to save Thoroughbred horses no longer able to compete on the racetrack from possible neglect, abuse, and slaughter.

Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation

The Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation is the oldest and largest equine sanctuary of its kind in the world. The James River chapter was founded in 2007 as one of the Second Chances programs where horses live at correctional centers. At James River Work Center offenders care for the horses and become certified in the nationally acclaimed Groom Elite program in the process. The horses here are assured a lifetime of care with the opportunity to be adopted out if suited. Our success stories confirm that our program is horses helping people, people helping horses.

Event Info:

LCCB is celebrating the Kentucky Derby and the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation at James River in style. Come dressed to impress because we’re having a best dressed and best hat contest! Live Music:

The Southern Belles (1:00 – 4:00)

Southern Belles

Hailing from Richmond, VA, The Southern Belles play American, Rock & Roll, bridging the gaps between funk, psychedelic rock, country, and soul.

The Trongone Band (5:00 – 8:00)

Trongone Band

In addition to an impressive collection of Grateful Dead and other Jamband covers, the Trongone Band plays an eclectic mix of classic and southern rock, pop music and artist originals. What truly sets these guys apart is the extent to which they own whatever they play, for both originals or covers, they pay homage to the true spirit of the tune, and then embark with the audience on an odyssey in the moment, which twists and turns to the energy of the room. One thing is for sure; you will hear songs you love in new and exciting forms and others you’ve never heard, becoming forever etched onto the heartstrings of your personal vault.

Special Appearance from Secretariat’s Grandson!

Covert Action

Covert Action is the Grandson of Secretariat. Although a knee injury kept him from racing, he has had a major impact on many peoples lives, much like his Grandfather. Don’t miss your chance to meet this equine legend at Lickinghole Creek!
