In the year 2013….
I was recently asked by a local reporter, “what has been the greatest accomplishment for Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery this year?” My answer quite simply was, “opening.” I’m not sure if she thought I was being obtuse, but I was being sincere. Opening Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery was a challenge from the very beginning due to the fact that very few people have done anything like it before.
Farm Breweries throughout the country are rather rare, and there are a multitude of reasons for why that is: zoning restrictions, access to enough water, treating waste water and single phase power being the primary ones. Opening the brewery required us to meet these challenges, as well as several other unforeseen ones, head on.
That’s enough looking back. Let’s look ahead. Here’s what we got cooking for 2014:
1. Releasing Enlightened Despot Russian Imperial Stout aged in 15 year old Pappy Van Winkle Barrels. Bottle Release Saturday, March 1st.
2. Expanding the hop and barley production on the farm
3. Expanding herbs and spices grown on the farm
4. Creating a barrel-aged program
