Brewed from the Heart.

I cannot promise how long Lickinghole Creek will remain open, but I can promise the barrel aged beers produced while we are open will be worthy of cellaring and treasuring for years to come. I hope you enjoy Aurelian Reserve. I believe it is one of our best.

When my health changed, Farris and I had a choice. We could sell what we had built, or we could close it. Farris, my kids' godfather and busines partner, started the brewery together, built it with our own hands from the ground up, and put into reality our vision that became the foundation of Lickinghole Creek.

Stepping away and shifting to mass production seemed to always result in the heart and soul of the brewery being lost in translation. So we could sell the name and recipes and farm, or return to our roots at a size and scope my health can tolerate, which is small batch and specialty made by hand for our loyalist customers to have Lickinghole Creek back in their cellars.

Selling may have been the easier decision, but we could not stomach the thought of watching Lickinghole Creek become another name used to fill mass-production orders, and the land turned to development. We founded this brewery to make exceptional beer rooted in this farm. We would rather close than see beer bearing our name lose its character, its integrity, and its soul.

We walked away from the money and held on to what mattered: the land, the water, the craft, and the right to decide what the Lickinghole Creek name would stand for.

We also fought for the right to continue brewing with pure water drawn from our deep aquifers. We accepted a limit of only 60 open days each year so that we could protect the water at the heart of our beer—water that has not been chlorinated by a municipal system or stripped of the natural mineral character that makes our beer unique to this place.

That water is part of our terroir. So are the grain, the barrels, the native meadows, the wildlife, the sunflowers, and the community that has stood beside us. You cannot separate the beer from the farm and still call it Lickinghole Creek.

Now Farris and I are brewing together again. There are no production shifts, no assembly lines, and no plans for mass distribution. Aurelian Reserve is truly handcrafted by the founders, at a human pace, here on the farm where I live.

We began with the finest grain, took no shortcuts, and aged this Belgian-style Golden Strong Ale in Buffalo Trace Bourbon Barrels. At 13.6% ABV, it is powerful without being hot, smooth without being simple, and complex without losing its balance. It can be enjoyed now or cellared, allowing its character to deepen and evolve over time.

The price reflects what this beer truly costs to make: exceptional ingredients, rare barrels, limited production, years of knowledge, and time that cannot be hurried. It also helps us preserve this farm as an oasis of peace and wildness in a landscape rapidly being lost to development. It supports our native meadows, our wildlife habitat, and the fields of sunflowers we grow as a gift to the community.

We chose craft over scale. Conservation over development. Pure well water over convenience. The soul of the brewery over the value of its name.

We do not know how long we will be able to continue. We only know that while we are here, we will do this honestly.

Our hearts and souls are in every bottle.

AURELIAN RESERVE Vintage 2026 Belgian-Style Golden Strong Ale Aged in Buffalo Trace Bourbon Barrels 13.6% ABV

Truly handcrafted by founders Farris and Lisa at Lickinghole Creek Farm Brewery.

The first 250 bottles will be available to reserve with prepurchase tonight at 7pm online, and the rest of the 550 bottles will be available Saturday, August 15, 2026 at noon.

Bring Your Own Barbecue Swap Meet at Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery

Enjoy of new releases and Hard Seltzer with Pineapple and Coconut. If you cannot make it, order beer online for shipping in Virginia or for pick up at the brewery.

There is something special about sharing great food, swapping recipes, and spending an afternoon with neighbors. This summer, we invite our community to bring that tradition to the farm.

What Is a Barbecue Swap Meet?

Think of it as a community potluck for barbecue lovers.

Bring your own homemade barbecue—brisket, pulled pork, ribs, smoked chicken, sausages, baked beans, mac and cheese, cornbread, sauces, or your favorite side dish—and share small samples with others who have brought something to contribute. It’s a chance to taste different styles, exchange recipes, and meet fellow backyard pitmasters.

Whether you smoke over hickory, oak, applewood, charcoal, or pellets, every barbecue has a story.

Important Information

Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery is not preparing, serving, selling, or providing any of the food at this gathering.

This is an informal community event where guests voluntarily bring and share food with one another. Participation is entirely optional, and attendees should use their own judgment when choosing whether to sample food prepared by others.

The brewery’s role is simply to provide a beautiful gathering place where friends and neighbors can connect while enjoying our farm and craft beer.

What to Bring

  • Your favorite homemade barbecue or smoked dish
  • A serving utensil
  • A card with the name of your dish and any common allergens (optional, but appreciated)
  • Your favorite barbecue recipe if you’d like to trade ideas

Enjoy the Farm

While you’re here, relax with a Lickinghole Creek craft beer, explore the property, enjoy the open space, and spend the afternoon with family and friends.

Some of the best conversations happen around good food and good beer.

We look forward to seeing what everyone brings to the table.

Harvest in Action! Plus a Patio Built with Love — and Beers Worth Savoring

At Lickinghole Creek, every detail matters — from the beers we brew to the spaces we share them in. This season, we’re proud to unveil our new patio structure, lovingly hand-built by Farris Loutfi.

Farris poured his skill and heart into creating a welcoming space for our guests, complete with a custom shade structure to keep you cool during the day and warm, inviting lighting for evenings under the stars. It’s the perfect backdrop for gathering, relaxing, and celebrating farm life with friends and family.

And what’s a great patio without a great beer lineup? On tap this weekend you’ll find:

  • Blueberry Obsession – fruit-forward and refreshing

  • Enlightened Despot – bold and unforgettable

  • Blonde Ale – light and crisp

  • Goochland Quadrupel Ale – rich, complex, Belgian-inspired

  • Nasty Woman Tequila Barrel Aged Tripel – spirited and strong

  • Packaged Maidens Blonde – now available in cans!

Blooming Sunflower Season has Begun!!!

The fields of rolling sunflowers in bloom are spectacular. The blossoms are full, and watching these heliotropes follow the sun is a masterpiece of nature. Sunflower Weekends at Lickinghole Creek have officially begun.

We are open every Saturday and Sunday from 12 PM to 8 PM (until sunset) for the season. Come experience the beauty of the farm and feel the weight of the world lift off your shoulders through nature and open space.

The Tripel is packaged and ready to enjoy. Rebuilding the brewery to full production is a work in progress—two steps forward, one step back. Yet with each unexpected turn life brings, we gain new perspectives and creative inspiration.

Our glycol system is undergoing repair, limiting our ability to condition new brews that require precise temperature control. The silver lining? We’ve shifted our focus to nonalcoholic beverage development, fine-tuning exciting new seltzer flavors and refreshing options for snow cones.

Our on-premise seltzers (not canned) are flavored with real fruit puree. We’re also experimenting with herbal essence sparkling waters designed to awaken your senses without added calories. The influence scent has on perception is remarkable—so much of what we taste is shaped by what we smell.

Our seltzers are light in alcohol, perfect for the summer heat and ideal for long, relaxed days with family and friends, while maintaining a low blood alcohol level.

This place is not only my home—it’s also Farris’ castle, where he continues to hone his expertise and showcase the hard-earned skills built over a decade of brewing.

Farris is my best friend. We act like siblings, with all the colorful dynamics of a long-standing relationship built on friendship since 7th grade. We invite you to join us and experience the balance of grounded wisdom and energetic spark that defines Lickinghole Creek.

To everyone who loves this haven—we hope you feel recharged, inspired, and ready to take on another day.

Finally Opening!!

I’m missing the brewery opening this weekend—Ava has a shot at an athletic scholarship, and I need to be there for her. Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it. I am also extremely geateful and confodent in the brewery being in original founding member and brewer Farris Loutfi.

Yomorrow's opening is in great hands: we open at noon. Trace Nixon plays June 28 at 1pm, hosted by the one and only Farris Loutfi til sunset.

To make it up for my absence tomorrow, July 2 is on me—free show at 7PM. Tickets prepurchasednwill be refunded. DJ Williams’ Band and Guest are coming through—he’s on national tour now, but Richmond is where it started. Nekoro Williams is on drums, and Todd Herrington, who played our first-ever opening, is back to bring it full circle.

Make it a Dad-erday Saturday!

Celebrate this Saturday June 14 from 12pm to 8pm - Noon to sunset for an early Father’s Day at Lickinghole Creek

Our team went the extra mile this week in the summer heat fixing the grounds, seating, shade and playset.

The new farm playset is nearly complete, offering a dedicated area for families to unwind. Please note: alcohol is not permitted near the play area, which is set apart from the tasting room to give kids space to roam and play safely.

To help you (and our team) cool down from this hot week, we’re serving Father’s Day-sized snow cones and shaved ice bowls, perfect for all ages. Choose from refreshing non-alcoholic sparkling waters with flavors like watermelon, blueberry, blood orange, or mango.

Elevate your icy treat with a fruit purée swirl, or stay classic with snow cone flavors like Dragon Blood or Piña Colada.

Because let’s face it—snow cones never go out of style, especially on a hot day.

Come celebrate Father’s Day with a cold treat, great beer, and plenty of room to play at Lickinghole Creek.

Our team member and famed PBR drummer Nekoro Williams may show off some skills with his son on the drums, and fill our day with music.

Sunflowers and Sunset Melodies

Lickinghole Creek Sunflowers & Sunsets: An Intimate Summer Music Series

I’m thrilled to once again share the beauty of my farm with the community I love. As the summer Solstice approaches, I’m excited to announce the Lickinghole Creek Sunflowers & Sunsets Evening Concert Series — a celebration of music, nature, and craft, featuring both nonalcoholic and specialty alcoholic brew releases.

To ensure a meaningful and safe experience — especially as I continue to navigate the limits of my immune disorder — attendance will be limited to 200 guests per evening throughout June and July. This allows us to focus on creating an intimate and immersive atmosphere for everyone present.

We are blessed to welcome DJ Williams and special guests to open the series on July 2. Tickets for music events are $25, with 100% of proceeds supporting the artists. This also helps us plan for seating, spacing, and thoughtful beer service. A donation option will be available for those who want to support our evolving vision of a curated, art-focused music venue.

Imagine relaxing in the shade, surrounded by blooming sunflowers, as the sun dips below the horizon and a canopy of stars slowly appears — a view you just can’t get in the suburbs or the city. Here, we’ll gather to truly listen — to the original songs, to the soul of the artists, and to one another.

My dream is to bring together sunsets, sunflowers, and deeply talented musicians — whether you’ve heard of them or not, I promise their artistry will move you. Our evenings will be paired with small-batch, high-ABV barrel-aged beers, and balanced with refreshing low- or no-ABV options — something for everyone to enjoy.

This week, I’ll be announcing more music acts and helping Farris brew a Strawberry Hefeweizen, followed by a new Honeysuckle Essence New England IPA.

And yes, I apologize in advance for ticketing — but it’s all in service of crafting an experience where nature, music, and community come together for something truly special.

With love and excitement,
Lisa

What We Did This Week

The weather has been excellent this week, allowing us to take advantage of the sunny days by preparing the outdoor scenery around the brewery. In the brewery, we’ve been hard at work brewing some delicious new seltzers! This weekend, you can try our Mango Seltzer, Watermelon Seltzer, and Blood Orange Seltzer.

Weekend Plans

1. Enjoy the new seltzers and relax in the shade.

2. Enjoy the new seltzers while getting your hands dirty by volunteering in the hop fields or helping construct the new playset (sign-up link available in the event information and on Instagram).

“A New Queen, A New Brew – The Farm Awakens”

🍻 What’s Brewing This Week at Lickinghole Creek

Week of May 30, 2025

The hive is buzzing—both in the fields and the brewhouse.

🐝 A New Queen Takes Her Throne This week we introduced a new queen bee to one of our farm hives. She arrived in her queen cage and is settling in while the colony slowly accepts her as their own. It’s a beautiful, slow process that mirrors how we do things out here—naturally and with care.

🍺 Three Chopt Tripel Is in the Brewhouse Named after the historic trail that runs through our region, the Three Chopt Tripel is our bold, American twist on a Belgian classic. Crafted with: • Pilsner malt • Belgian yeast • And nonstop hopping through the boil with Motueka and Saaz

This tripel brings bright citrus, floral spice, and soft malt depth—equal parts tradition and rebellion.

🎉 Soft Opening Hours

Fridays – Sundays 12PM to Sunset We’re softly open with 4 taps pouring each weekend—featuring a Watermelon Gose and three vintage barrel-aged gems, and a farm experience like no other.

Come sip under the trees, meet the bees, and be part of the buildup to our grand reopening on June 28.

📍 Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery Goochland, VA | Farm-grown. Globally known. 🗓️ Full Opening: June 28, 2025

Farm, Fermentation, and Forward Momentum at Lickinghole Creek

Farm, Fermentation, and Forward Momentum at Lickinghole Creek

Spring is in full swing at Lickinghole Creek, and we’re buzzing with activity across the farm and brewhouse. Our hop fields are coming alive, and we’re deep into reviewing our vintage barrel-aged brews—checking how the years have treated these bold, aged beauties. The kids are getting a new playset, and we’re building out shaded structures to make your visits even more relaxing and family-friendly.

Next week, we fire up the brewhouse again and kick off our latest lineup:

🍻 Three Chopt Tripel (40 BBL) – Bold and golden, this brew anchors our barrel program. We’ll be aging: • Nasty Woman – Our unapologetically assertive barrel-aged Belgian. • La Calavera Catrina – A hauntingly complex tribute to tradition and rebellion. • Bourbon Barrel-Aged Tripel – Classic, smooth, and dangerously drinkable.

🌿 Lickinghole Creek Juicy IPA – Hazy, hoppy, and bursting with tropical flavor.

🍓 Strawberry Hefeweizen – A crisp, fruity wheat beer brewed with real strawberries, perfect for sunny days.

🍍🥥 Pina Colada Seltzer – Island vibes in a can.

🍒 Black Cherry Seltzer – Deep, refreshing, and effervescent.

🧺 Farm Fresh Seltzer – Rotating flavors using seasonal ingredients grown right here on the farm.

🚫🍺 Non-Alcoholic Seltzers – A sensory journey for all ages, built around fragrance, fizz, and farm-fresh infusions.

💣 Nuclear Nugget – Our cult-classic, massively hopped imperial IPA returns.
